Democratic Deputy Staff Director
Christopher Day is the Democratic Deputy Staff Director for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Prior to that, Mr. Day served as Deputy Legislative Director in the Office of U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, where he handled all of the Senator's non-transportation issues before the Senate Commerce Committee, including telecommunications, consumer protection and consumer product safety issues. In addition, he also handled the insurance and banking portfolios for Senator Nelson.
Previously, Mr. Day served as Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. He has also worked as an in-house regulatory counsel in the Government Affairs Department at Sprint-Nextel Corporation, in-house counsel for CTIA- The Wireless Association, and as a Fellow/Staff Attorney at Georgetown University Law Center’s Institute for Public Representation. He started his legal career as an associate in the Washington, DC office of Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman, LLP.
Mr. Day received his B.A. from Colgate University in 1995, his J.D. from American University's Washington College of Law in 1998, and an L.L.M. (Advocacy) from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002. In addition to his civilian position, Mr. Day also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps.
