Ken d’Entremont

University of Utah
Associate Professor (Lecturer) of Mechanical Engineering
Greater Salt Lake City Area
I have developed and currently teach an upper-division university engineering course entitled "Product-Safety Engineering and Applied Engineering Ethics.” The course is based on my industry experience including over a decade as Manager of Corporate Product Safety at a large designer, manufacturer, and worldwide distributor of innovative and hazardous products.

I am also finishing a text/professional book based on my course and experience to be called “Comprehensive Product Safety.” This book investigates topics such as: what safety is NOT, engineering ethics, the role of the product-safety engineer within the corporation, product-safety concepts & application, the Engineering Design, Development & Testing Process (EDDTP), the Safety-Review Matrix (SRM) for designing a “system of safeguards” during the development phases of a new product, CE marking, standards development, and post-sale manufacturer obligations including safety recalls. Although the book will focus on engineering, the content and straightforward examples will be easily understood by anyone with an interest in product safety.
