This panel brings together expert panelists representing community groups, academia, and manufacturers, all working to promote safer products for seniors. Our goal is to highlight the complex and nuanced issues related to the regulation, design, marketing, and safe use of products for seniors.

Dr Johnathon Ehsani from Johns Hopkins University will share recent examples and highlights of safety concerns in products for seniors.

Helen O’Connor, is a researcher at P&G one of the world's largest fast-moving-consumer-goods companies. She will discuss her work with seniors to identify the challenges they face across multiple product categories that are key to Activities of Independent Daily Living. She then works with design teams to create solutions to address those challenges focusing on irresistible consumer experiences that happen to also drive safe independent living.

Randy Cooper, VP for Technical Operations and Standards at the Association for Home Appliance Manufacturers, will discuss potential hazard patterns for seniors related to appliances, and solutions that appliance manufacturers are implementing through proposals to voluntary consensus standards.

Dr Wendy Baldwin, AARP Chapter President, will provide perspective from the country's best known advocacy organization for older Americans, and discuss moving from data to policy as we work together towards making products safer for seniors.
